The Metropolitan Museum of Art is home to art treasures with a combined value of billions of dollars. John Barelli spent his career working to keep it all safe from art thieves.

He spoke to the club March 8.

Barelli retired after spending 38 years in the security department at New York City’s Met, where the final 30 of which were as chief security officer. While at The Met, he said he developed a security department with personnel and technology that was internationally recognized as the museum worlds’ best for protecting and recovering priceless works of art.
